Our Committee

Warners Bay Early Learning and Care Centre is a community, not for profit centre managed by a Management Committee. This Committee meets on the 3rd Monday of every month. We are currently seeking expressions of interests from families and extended families as well as community members who would like to join our committee. All families are welcome to attend Committee meetings and indeed join the Committee. It is after all your children that the decisions are being made about.

Our  committee members are, Cait who is our President,Mark who is our Vice President, Kylie who is our Treasurer, Emma and Natalie who are our staff liaison officers , Kayla who is our Secretary and Katie, Marilyn and Vanessa who are general members of our committee, who all assist each other with myself and the educators to make decisions about our service.
WBELCC truly reflects its name of a Community Based Child Care Centre.

Each family is encouraged to part take in family involvement, contributing voluntarily in some way to the Centre, thereby ensuring its ongoing improvement and maintaining the community feel. You may choose to attend meetings and also join the Management Committee. Volunteer your services for working bees and Bunnings BBQ’s, come in and share a skill with the children or join the staff taking children on excursions.

Regardless of your skill base or work status, by volunteering your time and skill within our management committee you will be participating in your child’s care and assist in making decisions that is best for all families and children as well as educators at the centre.

Fundraising is also very important to the centre and enables us to upgrade our existing facilities and provide new ones as well as purchase new equipment and resources for the children such as the trapeze net out the front of the centre in our nature yard. So if you can help in this area we are open to this as well as feel this is also an important contribution to our centre.

If you are interested in joining our management committee please come and see me or I can arrange for you to meet up with a committee member who will be more than happy to discuss the rewards of joining their team.

Cait – President

At the moment I am on maternity leave from teaching primary K-6. I have been teaching for 4 years locally, and prior to this worked in professional services including property management for  over 12 years. I hold a degree in Tourism and Recreation, Masters in Primary Teaching and a Diploma in Financial Planning.

Monty is our 16 month old son who attends the wonderful WBELCC, and we are having another boy due in June 2018 (he is on the waitlist!).

Prior to moving to Newcastle, I lived in Sydney and Hobart, but I grew up a country girl in Narrabri, North West NSW. My husband Nick grew up  in Lake Macquarie and we both enjoy living in this beautiful area. We have a gorgeous dog ‘Beaker’ who we love taking for walks around the lake, beaches and Green Point where we live.

Vanessa – Ordinary Member

Our son attends WBELCC in the nursery and its been incredible to watch his development since he started. We’re so grateful of the care he receives and its great to be involved with the centre through my position a member.

I work as a financial adviser and hold a Masters of Commerce in Financial Planning.

I was born in Newcastle and have recently moved back after living in Sydney for 13 years.

Natalie – Staff Liaison Member

Hi my name is Natalie Field and I am a member of the WBELCC. I am a Mum of 6 aged between 13 and 25 and a Nan of 8 soon to be 9. I have always been actively involved in both my children and grandchildren’s learning and education.

I encourage any parent grandparent carer to join the committee as it gives you the opportunity to not only meet other parents but to also get an insight into the centre itself to see the dedication that goes into making it a great caring learning environment for our children.

Katie – Ordinary Member

Hi, my name is Katie. I have two children who attend WBELCC. I started on the committee to meet other parents and to learn how community based centres run so that I can have a positive impact on how the Centre operates and to be an advocate for the children and educators.

I feel that the Centre is unique with the services it provides for families and that the educators are amongst the best in the industry with a great depth of experience and diversity. I thoroughly enjoy being involved as a committee member.

The Centre relies on a dedicated team of parents and local members to assist with the running of the Centre. I know that families lead very busy lives these days (I work full-time as a doctor) but I encourage those of you who are interested to attend one of our monthly meetings to see how your contribution may lead to a positive outcome for your children.
